"Looking Backward in Order to Look Forward"

When a ship is sailing through un-charted waters, someone has to decide which course to steer.  The Captain may listen to advice from the First Mate, or others, but in the end, he sets the course and the crew follows orders.  In 1940 the Captain of the USS America was a fella named FDR, who wasn't liked by everybody, but he was the Captain.  In the end our ship sailed through troubled waters because the whole crew was on board with the Captain's orders.

Today we are again in un-chatered waters, as we try to sail through this bout with the Hog Flu.  After watching the Captain's last interview with the News Folks, I was struck by the thought that if these same News Folks was around back in 1940, we would all be speaking German right now.  There is only one Captain on the ship, and even if you don;t like the course we are on, the only way to make it to a safe port is to pull together.  Some of these News Folks are trying to start a mutiny, and should be set adrift in a boat of their own so they can squabble among one another over which course to sail.

"Now that's the way I see it, and you can tell'em I said so!"
