"My Fellow Americans in the Good Old USA"

I think that almost all of us can say that what we saw in DC today is not what America is all about, nor should this ever be the face we show to the rest of the world.  That being said it is easy to see what may have motivated many Good American Citizens to involve themselves with rabble, and indulge in behavior best suited for lessor developed countries than our own.  We have a great divide in our country which is hurting all of us.  We have seen major changes in the makeup of our country over the past several decades which challenge our traditions, our values, and our faith, as well as our ideals when it comes to what the country of the United States represents.

It is possible that a full half of our citizens embrace these changes without realizing how much some of these things tear at the fabric of our nation.  On the other side, there are those who cannot except even the beneficial aspect of the changes in our country.  These people are hurt, scared, and angry because they feel that the America which they and their forefathers loved so dear, is disappearing.  Many of these are among the folks in DC today doing things that they themselves don't really approve of.

The truth is that change is unavoidable, and is neither all good or all bad.  The same is true for tradition.  To be able to combine the best of both change and tradition has been a large part of what has made America great over the last few hundred years.  There is one other important factor to be considered, and that is wealth and power.  We must all decide what we as a country are all about.  Is it change?  Is it Tradition?  Or is it the struggle for wealth and power, and who will steer the ship of state.

It is my observation that many of our politicians and journalists are simply part of the problem in their pursuit of both of these entities, and are not nearly focused as much on what is really best for us the American people.
I hope that as American citizens, we can see the value in all the citizens of our great country.  If we fail in this, then the face of what took place in DC today, will end up being the face of America, because when we hate our fellow countrymen, we actually hate both our country and ourselves.

"Fellow Americans in the Good Old USA"

The election results (total votes cast) for President in 2016 were: Clinton = 66 million
                                                                                                        Trump  = 63 million
                                                                                                        Total     = 129 million

The election results (total votes cast) for President in 2020 were:  Biden   = 78 million
                                                                                                         Trump  = 73 million
                                                                                                         Total     = 151 million

In 2016 Clinton and the Democrats could not believe they had lost in the Electoral College, and at least 40 million people were bitter and full of spite for the next four years.
In 2020 Trump and the Republicans could not believe they had lost in the Electoral College, and it looks like 40 million people will be bitter and full of spite for the next four years.

I have a friend who is a 93 year old retired school teacher, and her comment was: "In my time people voted for Democrat or Republican, any way they chose, and after the election everybody accepted the result and we all were still friends!  Now, I just can't believe how much hatred there is in the country!"

In 1858 Abraham Lincoln said in a famous speech, "A house divided cannot stand!".  It took a Civil War to prove the point.  My friends and fellow country-men, please do not let history repeat itself!  This country has stood the test of time for more than 200 years, and this too shall pass. Learn to love your neighbor as a fellow American, even if they are stupid when they vote!

"Open Letter to the President Elect of the Good Old USA"

Once in a lifetime a truly unique opportunity presents itself to a fairly ordinary person who has a terrific shot at becoming a truly Great Figure in history'  Now sir, such a time has fallen ri8ght into your lap.  You have never been depicted as a Great Man, but now if you choose to, you can go down in history as a Great Man, a Great Leader, and a Great Healer.  The choice is yours.

You probably will only serve one term as President, so there is no "next election" to be concerned about.  So you don't need to worry about more votes.  You are the number one person in your political party, so you don't have to worry about "party politics". Also, there is no pending legislation with anywhere near the importance of "Healing the Country".

As Abe Lincoln once said, "you can please All of the People Some of the Time". and that's all you need to worry about!  America is most happy when Everyone gets a "nibble" at the pie, but nobody gets a Lion's Share.  That means no favorites when it comes to Democrat vs. Republican, Conservative vs. Liberal, Male vs. Female, Black vs. White, Old vs. Young, etc. (you get the Idea).  All of the People can be pleased some of the time, but none of the people should be pleased All of the Time.  The greatness of America has always been when we all pull together and root for the other guy as well as ourselves.  Someone needs to remind the American People, that we only succeed when everyone has a shot at success, and we don't despise each other, and root for the other guy to fail!

You sir, have the chance, and if you even come close, History will write you in as a Great Man!
